2013 Budget to reach Parliament by the end of Week --- Tuitt.

rolandtuitt13032013Philipsburg:--- Minister of Finance Roland Tuitt told reporters at the Council of Ministers' weekly press briefing on Wednesday that the 2013 budget will be sent to the House of Parliament by Friday this week. The Finance Minister said that his Ministry is currently working on an amendment for the 2012 budget, while the preparatory document for 2013 budget is already complete. Tuitt said the documents will be handled in an emergency meeting on Thursday and all of which has to be approved by the Parliament of St. Maarten will be sent to them latest on Friday.

Minister of Finance Roland Tuitt said the meeting that was scheduled last week with the Ministers of Finance of Aruba, Curacao, and St. Maarten to discuss the lotto model that is used on Aruba was canceled. Minister Tuitt said the three Finance Ministers plan to meet regularly to discuss financial matters and to enhance cooperation among the countries within the Kingdom.

Minister Tuitt said that meeting did not take place because the Aruban Finance Minister had budgetary issues to take care of.

Minister Tuitt also announced that residents and businesses can now file their taxes online, since the service is now available for use. He also called on vehicle owners to pay their road taxes if they have not done so as yet because the deadline for the payments already passed on February 28th.
