Middle Region Residents Blamed Victim's Mother for Daughter's Slaying.

shaniskabrooks24032013Residents of the Valley Drive, Middle Region are very upset and angry about the fatal stabbing that took place in their neighborhood Saturday night. Several of the residents told SMN News that the victim (Kimberly Illidge) is the one that caused her death while her mother did nothing to stop her daughter from attacking and threatening the younger girl (suspect). "All day Saturday Kimberly was cursing and threatening young Brooks, and her mother (Cindy) looked at her behavior and at no time tried to stop her from attacking the younger girl. At noon on Saturday, Kimberly went to Brooks' aunt and told her she will beat up her niece and she will also end her life. The witnesses said the aunt pleaded with Kimberly to stop because she is much bigger in size than her niece and also older. "When all of this was happening Kimberly's mother Cindy stood by and did nothing to stop her daughter's rage against a younger girl." One of the witnesses said Kimberly is the one who came out of her house after 9pm and attacked Brooks and at that time Brooks stabbed her with a knife she was walking around with because of the threats all day. The handle of the knife they said was found on the street while the blade broke off in her chest. Another witness said when Kimberly fell on the road someone lifted her up and took her in her house and she died in her mother's arm. One of the men who saw what happened all day screamed out to the mother and told her that she brought the death of her daughter. The residents who are obviously upset said that they have no compassion for Cindy because had she intervened and stopped her daughter from attacking the younger victim, her daughter would have been alive today.
They said police arrested Eric claiming that Eric gave the suspect the knife but they find that to be impossible. The suspect was walking with that knife to protect herself she was threatened all day and Kimberly told her aunt she will kill her so that is why she had a knife on her.

The residents also said that the two females had some sort of bickering going on but Saturday it escalated and clearly Kimberly was the aggressor. Apart from this incident they said Kimberly was one of those teenagers in the neighborhood that seemed focused on her school and even work. They said they are trying to figure out what happened on Saturday that caused her to be so aggressive against a 17 year old who looks more like a 13 year old girl.
