Possible Higher Supervision Looming over St. Maarten --- Richardson and Stein Says there is no grounds for Higher Supervision.

Philipsburg:--- Several persons contacted SMN News on Tuesday and said that there is higher supervision looming over St. Maarten due to the amount of corruption cases that are pending and being investigated on St. Maarten. However, in an invited comment former Lt. Governor Denis Richardson who is currently in the Netherlands said that right now no one can impose higher supervision on St. Maarten because there are no grounds at the moment for that. Richardson said the only time the Kingdom can intervene or impose higher supervision on St. Maarten is when the judicial system on the island fails to execute its duties.

Deputy Attorney General Taco Stein also shared the same sentiments, Stein said that he has been following the statements made by Bosman and that definitely cannot happen now because justice system on St. Maarten is taking its course.

However, some politicians feel that even though the judicial system is doing what it has to do in order to avoid higher supervision it appears more than likely that the Dutch Kingdom will find away to interfere with the daily operations on St. Maarten.
