Philipsburg:--- A female administrative worker of the Pointe Blanche Prison was arrested on Tuesday morning for having illegal drugs in her possession. According to well-placed sources, the woman identified as Mercedes Wilson was arrested when the illegal substance was found on her. The source said that prison employee had marijuana hidden at the back of her body. SMN News learnt that Wilson had a large amount of marijuana strapped to her back. According to the information provided to SMN News, Wilson had been working for the prison for 17 years as a financial assistant. SMN News understands that when Wilson passed through the scanner two times it beeped and she was scanned again with the hand scanner which also went off. At that point, the prison worker was strip searched and a good quantity of marijuana was found taped on her back.
Several attempts to reach the Prison Director Edward Rohan on Tuesday and Wednesday for confirmation comment proved futile.
SMN News also could not reach Chief Prosecutor Hans Mos for a comment Tuesday evening. However, Deputy Attorney General Taco Stein confirmed that a prison worker was arrested for having an amount of marijuana in her possession while going into work. Stein could not confirm the person's identity on Tuesday night neither could he confirm the amount of marijuana that was found on the long-time prison worker.
