More Bad News for RRR Government --- RRR Campaign Accounts Rejected --- President may Lose his Seat.

alainrichardson14062012Marigot:--- The President of the Collectivity of St. Martin, Alain Richardson is now facing another problem which will most likely cost him his seat in the Territorial and Executive Council. The State Council, Commission nationale des comptes de campagne et des financements politiques (CNCCFP ) on March 27th, 2013 examined the campaign accounts for the RRR Government and rejected the RRR campaign accounts based on a decision of November 21st, 2012. The information can be viewed on the State website which will be linked beneath this article. The council will pronounce its decision on the sanctions they will take against the RRR President in two weeks.

President Richardson has called a press conference on Saturday where he will explain what has happened with the RRR campaign accounts and why it was rejected. While this is not new for St. Martin, it is more than an embarrassment for President Richardson who is a certified accountant by profession.

President Richardson is not the first President who would have to step down when the state council rejects political campaign accounts. Leader of the Union pour les Progres, Louis Constant Fleming lost his seat twice while the former President of the COM, Frantz Gumbs' election process was also dismissed in 2007. However, Gumbs was re-elected President of the COM in August that same year.

Since the installation of President Richardson on April 1st, 2012 he has had a number of hurdles, the first being the speech that he pronounced when he was installed as President of the COM which was plagiarized and then the AOT that was granted to SINDEXTOUR shortly after his government took office. One year after the installation of the RRR Government, three persons are now in front of the criminal courts while the President may have to say goodbye to the people for now.
