Philipsburg:--- The District Governor for District 60b Lion Claudius Buncamper MJF has begun his official visit on St. Maarten on Sunday with the St. Maarten Lions Club by attending a Thanksgiving Service at the Saint Maartie of Tours Roman Catholic Church in Philipsburg. The service was led by Father Johannes.
The morning service which was attended by members of the St. Maarten Lions Club and their families was the first official function with regards to the District Governors visit. Members of the club took part in various activities of the service such the singing of the Catholic Liturgy, presenting of the offertory gifts and assisting with the church collections from the congregation.
District Governor Claudius Buncamper gave a short speech on behalf of Lions International whereby he urged the congregation to support the St. Maarten Lions Club whenever they have fundraising functions as these funds go back to the St. Maarten community in various ways. Father Bob concluded the service by offering a special prayer for god's guidance on the excellent work the club does in the community.
The visit of the District Governor continues on Tuesday with various media interviews, courtesy visits to His Excellency Governor Eugene Holiday and Honorable Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams along with the Club Audit and Dinner Meeting on Tuesday evening.
