PHILIPSBURG:--- An active 2013 hurricane season has been predicted. Last week Colorado State University's Tropical Meteorology Project's hurricane forecast for the 30th year calls for a higher than normal tropical storm activity during the hurricane season.
Prior to the release of the forecasts, the Ministry of Public Housing, Environment, Spatial Development and Infrastructure (Ministry VROMI) took the initiative to update its database of contractors on Sint Maarten.
The Ministry is inviting all general contractors and heavy equipment owners interested in participating in any upcoming clean-up projects to an informative meeting on Friday, April 19 at the Ministry VROMI, Savance Building (next to Carl's & Sons on the Pondfill), starting at 10:00am.
Information will be provided about preparations for the 2013 Hurricane Season.
Contractors and heavy equipment owners are requested to bring along their equipment list with valid insurance, crib number of their company, updated registration form from the Chamber of Commerce & Industry, car insurance to the tune of Naf. 250 as well as contact information. The information is very important in the event Ministry VROMI needs to call on contractors before or after a storm.
Ministry VROMI Operations Manager Eldemiro Jansen and Project Manager Hensley Kwidama will be present for the meeting.
