Philipsburg:--- UTS CEO Eastern Caribbean, Glen Carty presented the first BlackBerry Z10 device to Prime Minister Sarah Wescot Williams. The device is the first in a shipment of this new model of BlackBerry devices that will become available to the Latin American region as of April 23rd, 2013. The Prime Minister accepted the device in her capacity as Chairlady of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) of Country St. Maarten. UTS' mobile brand, Chippie, offered the device to the Prime Minister to allow her to stay in closer contact with emergency service providers, her operating staff and to allow her to receive and send pertinent information on approaching weather systems and other possible crisis situations. Through the Chippieland concept, Chippie mobile service will allow the Prime Minister full voice and data connectivity on both sides of our island as well as in Curacao, on all BES territories and even Surinam and other islands in the region. The new BlackBerry Z10 device will be commercially available at UTS from April 23rd, when the devices are officially allowed to be sold by authorized BlackBerry sanctioned mobile providers. Devices sold locally thus far have reached the island through various unauthorized sales channels and are not eligible for warranty claims or service from BlackBerry.
