Administrative Professionals in the Civil Service Given Half Day off on Wednesday in Observance of Administrative Professionals Day.

PM: "Administrative Professionals essential to the proper functioning and working of various departments and ministries."

Philipsburg:--- The Prime Minister of St. Maarten announced yesterday that based on her recommendations the Council of Ministers has decided to grant all Administrative Professionals in the Civil Service a half day off in observance of Administrative Professionals day. Administrative Professionals' Day (also known as Secretaries Day or Admin Day) is an unofficial secular holiday observed in several countries to recognize the work of secretaries, administrative assistants, receptionists, and other administrative support professionals. In North America and including on St. Maarten, it is celebrated on the Wednesday of the last full week of April (April 24 in 2013).

Over the years, Administrative Professionals Week has become one of the largest workplace observances. The event is celebrated worldwide through community events, social gatherings and individual corporate activities recognizing support staff with gifts.

"It is important that we acknowledge the importance that Administrative Professionals have in our professional workforce. These professionals are essential to the proper functioning and working of various departments and ministries and therefore it was decided that we would acknowledge the importance of our Administrative Pool and grant a half work day in order to show our gratitude," commented the Prime Minister.
