Distinguished Toastmasters Valerie Brazier was elected to the position of Lieutenant Governor Education & Training (LGET), at the recently concluded Toastmasters International District 81 Conference in Guyana. This position goes into effect as of July 1st 2013 and is the second highest ranking position within District 81. Close to two hundred Toastmasters from across the Caribbean and South America came together for yet another successful Toastmasters District 81 Conference. During the Conference, Toastmasters and guests participated in various educational sessions, social gatherings and Business meetings. A delegation of 14 Toastmasters representing the various Clubs on St. Maarten traveled to Guyana and participated actively in the various events. For the past year, Ms. Brazier has functioned in the position of Lieutenant Governor Marketing, where she has been instrumental in accomplishing the following;
- Expanding District 81 with 3 new territories namely, Antigua, Anguilla, and Dominica bringing the total amount of territories to 20 with 123 Clubs. Upgrading the District 81 website: www.caribbeantoastmasters.com and upholding the Toastmasters International brand refresh.
When asked, Miss. Brazier mentioned that during her upcoming term as Lieutenant Governor Education and Training she intends to work closely with the other District Executive members to implement a 5 year strategic plan. In addition, she will ensure that all district and club officers receive the necessary training and materials needed to help them carry out their roles effectively. She will also coordinate the Toastmasters "Train the Trainers" Program; which will allow for a pool of new presenters and trainers throughout the district.
As LGET it is her responsibility to also guide and work closely with the Conference Planning Committee assisting in planning the two annual District conferences. DTM Valerie Brazier would like to thank all District 81 members for their confidence in allowing her to serve during the 2013-2014 term as LGET.
She encourages individuals who are interested in developing better communication and leadership skills to become a member of the Toastmasters organization by joining one of the many clubs throughout District 81. District 81 comprises the following territories throughout the
Caribbean: Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Barbados, St. Vincent & The Grenadines, Sint Lucia, Dominica, Martinique, Haiti, Puerto Rico, St. Maarten / Saint Martin, British Virgin Islands, US Virgin Islands, Antigua, Anguilla, Trinidad & Tobago, Grenada and Guyana.
