SIMPSON BAY:--- On Friday July 12th at approximately 2:15pm, the Central Police Dispatch received a call informing them of a serious car accident involving a female driver that took place on the Opal Road in the Pelican Key area. The driver of the car was stuck under the vehicle and was not showing any signs of life. Immediately several police patrols which included officers from the Police Traffic Department and Forensic Department along with personnel from the Ambulance Department and Fire Department were sent to the scene to investigate what had taken place. The preliminary investigation by the Police Traffic Department indicated that the female driver for unknown reasons had lost control of her vehicle with license plate 3690 AAA while driving down the hill, hitting into a rock wall. As a result, the vehicle turned over throwing the victim from the driver's seat. The vehicle landed on its right side on top of the victim. Paramedics attempted to revive the victim without any success. Dr. Bekele pronounced the death of the victim at the scene. The Police Traffic Department is still investigating to determine the exact cause of the accident.
