PHILIPSBURG:--- Minister of Justice Dennis Richardson, outgoing Chief Prosecutor Hans Mos, Chief Commissioner of Police Peter de Witte, head of the Detective Department Denise Jacobs, head of the Court of Guardianship Richelda Emanuel and other high ranking officers met with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte on Saturday morning. During the meeting the police along with the Court of Guardianship gave the Prime Minister a PowerPoint presentation about the penal code and the issues facing youths on St. Maarten.
After the presentation, the Prime Minister and his delegation were given a tour of Middle Region, Dutch Quarter, Union Farm, and Belvedere. At Belvedere, Community Police Officer (CPO) Rensley Henson guided the delegation throughout the tour. CPO Henson is designated to work in Cay Hill but he was appointed by the Police Management Team to conduct the tour with the visiting Prime Minister and his delegation. CPO Henson took Prime Minister Mark Rutte through Belvedere starting from Happy Estate. The Prime Minister of the Netherlands got a firsthand look at the local community especially the state of the play ground in Belvedere that has been left unattended. He was taken to the basketball court, Border Point, and the monument where Prime Minister Rutte got a chance to stand on French soil without having to deal with border control or immigration. After that guided tour which was very informative for the Prime Minister, the delegation went to the Pointe Blanche Prison where they got a tour of the facility.
