MARIGOT:--- A 34 year old woman identified as Veronica Albert was killed on Rue de Low Town, Marigot around 2am Monday morning. Captain Sylvain Jouault said the woman was picking up large items such as furniture and other items as garbage when she was struck by a speeding vehicle. Based on all indications, the woman seems to be garbage collector. At the time she was struck down she was putting the items she picked up on the side of the road in her truck.
Jouault said that the driver is a 35 year old man who was driving at high speed while he was under the influence of alcohol. Captain Jouault said the driver was slightly injured but he was arrested and placed in garde à vue as the investigation continues. Jouault said due to the ongoing investigation he could not release more information on how much alcohol the driver had in his blood at the time of the accident.
