PHILIPSBURG (DCOMM):--- The Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Traffic & Telecommunications (TEZVT) Hon. Ted Richardson met with the management team of the Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transportation and Telecommunication (TEZVT), consisting of Acting Secretary General, and the departments of Economy, Transportation & Telecommunication, Tourist Bureau, Business License, Statistics, Meteorological, Inspection, Civil Aviation & Shipping, and Maritime
The meeting was introductory in nature, and the Minister provided information about how he operates, his views, goals, and objectives.
The Minister is well aware of the many issues relation to the national economy and he is looking forward to working with all stakeholders with respect to the challenges that confront the country from an economic perspective.
"I am pleased to be here and I look forward to working with all of you. I have already started working on some ideas, and with your input, we can improve the current situation across the board," Minister Richardson said.
"There are some things that need to be decided upon, and in so doing, I will be practical, but also straightforward," the Minister said.
"We cannot be all things to everybody, so we would have to focus, to be realistic, and we have to work hard in not only accomplishing goals but also managing expectations."
After the introduction, the minister was given a general presentation about the Ministry's departments, insight into the budget of the Ministry (budgeted, spent, committed and remaining) as well as the priority issues of the Ministry.
As early as next week Minister Richardson and his team will be visiting each department to be further familiarized with their individual functioning and needs. This is done in an effort to better assess the ministry's platform for the delivery of 'economic quick wins' during this rather short governing period.
