Dominicanos Arrested with Firearms and Huge Sum of Monies. (UPDATED)

SIMPSON BAY:--- Police raided a house on the Airport Road on Thursday night. Prosecutor Dounia Bennamar confirmed that two persons were arrested but refused to divulge any information on the ongoing investigation. Bennamar said a press release will be issued later this week since the investigation is in its early stages.

SMN News learnt from well placed sources that the police confiscated two firearms, over $200,000.00 in cash, and two vehicles. Up to press time, the police did not issue a press release on the raid and arrest of the two persons and the items seized. It is still not clear if the two suspects in custody are involved in the drug trade or human smuggling.

Police Conducts Raid.

On Thursday evening August 1st, 2013, police raided a house on the Airport road based on a tip that illegal activities were taking place there. During the house search approximately U.S. $ 200,000.00 dollars in cash was seized as well as 3 illegal firearms and 2 cars. Two adults were arrested on the premises, one male and one female. At the time of the arrest, 3 small children were on the premises as well. Upon request of their mother they have been placed in the care of a relative. The suspects are being charged with money laundering and possession of illegal firearms and will be led before the judge of instruction on Monday August 5th, 2013. The investigation is ongoing.
