SIMPSON BAY:--- On Tuesday August 13, 2013 six houses and one company building (a real estate office) in Sint Maarten were searched. Those house searches, led by the judge of instruction and the public prosecutor took place due to an international drugs investigation by the Recherche Samenwerkingsteam (RST). All the premises are located in the Maho/Simpson Bay area.
Both the Douane Curacao and the Douane Sint Maarten, as well as the Korps Politie Sint Maarten (KPSM) gave assistance to the RST.
During the searches the authorities were looking for narcotics, weapons, and administration. Goods like money, vehicles, administration, and data carriers were confiscated for further investigation. Three persons were arrested: a 33-year old woman A.R., a 31-year old man A.H., and a 37-year old man G.K, all from Sint Maarten.
Last week three other suspects were also arrested in this investigation. These suspects are, a 27-year old man Q.G., a 36-year old woman R.J., and a 26-year woman D.H., are still in pre-trial detention. After those arrests two houses were searched in Maho. During those house searches narcotics (weed, cocaine, and probably XTC), money and a firearm were confiscated.
Regarding the ongoing investigation no further information can be disclosed.
