~Art Saves Lives Program was held June 24-30 on St. Maarten~
PHILIPSBURG:--- Local Award winning dancer Nicole C. De Weever of Art Saves Lives expressed gratitude and thanks to the Chamber of Commerce in support of Art Saves Lives Summer Project held this summer. The Chamber collaborated with Art Saves Lives' Entrepreneurship and Jewelry Design workshop. The workshop taught marketable skills in the area of jewelry design and production. Through learning the basics of creating a marketable jewelry company, the students were educated on key business topics including sales strategies, target markets and customer satisfaction. They also learned jewelry making techniques such as wire wrapping, metal work and packaging. The students were taught by fashion designer Zebi Williams, whose designs have been featured in Caribbean Fashion Week under her own label "Born as a Raggamuffin" and has also been a guest designer for VP Records Riddim Driven Clothing line.
The St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce & Industry is a public-law institution that is responsible for the registry of all businesses and legally established entities on St. Maarten. The Chamber strongly believes in empowering youth and young adults with the knowledge, skills and sound training to become the young entrepreneurs of today who complement the St. Maarten business community tomorrow. In that spirit, the Chamber was pleased to partner with Art Saves Lives' Summer Workshop Program to help aid in their mission of providing young artists with the training, education and guidance needed for the successful pursuit of careers in entertainment, creative arts, and education. Art Saves Lives is a cross-cultural exchange between youth in need and experienced practicing artists who seek to use their talents for positive change.
