Registration opens for Little Miss St. Martin Day Pageant 2013.

formerlittlemissstmartindaypageantcontestants28082013GREAT BAY:--- "I am excited to announce that registration is open for the third annual Little Miss St. Martin Pageant 2013, set for Sunday, November 3, 2013," said Nzinga Lake, pageant director.
The Little Miss St. Martin Pageant is a St. Martin Day calendar event open to girls, 8 to 11 years old. "I'm encouraging all princesses from the primary schools from both sides of the island to register to take part in the pageant," said Lake.
The main idea of the Little Miss St. Martin Pageant is to two-fold. "Firstly, the pageant serves as a motivational program, to inspire positive activities for young girls. Secondly, the pageant honors the traditional sense of unity of our island's culture and the original meaning of St. Martin Day. Of course, that is also why we use the traditional spelling of our island's name to brand the pageant.
The categories of the pageant competition are: Introduction, Talent, What I want to be when I grow up, and Princess Wear. "The contestants are encouraged to excel in cultural knowledge and to value educational excellence while being graceful ambassadors of their schools, neighborhoods, and the island as a whole," said Lake.
"I want to challenge the little princesses to do their competitive best; as well as for the pageant organization to produce a fine show that will entertain our audience creatively,"
To register for the Little Miss St. Martin Pageant, parents, guardians and schools can contact Nzinga Lake at 522-4280 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. In 2012, Genesis Meyers of the St. Dominic High School captured the crown while the 1st runner prize went to Nilka Richardson. The 2nd runner-up was Cheyenne Nunes and the 3rd runner-up was Saphire Elisa.
"Queen Genesis Meyers has been having a full fun-packed schedule from the start of her reign. "She was an invited guest at the official St. Martin Day event last November where she met dignitaries from both parts of the island. Queen Genesis has already made numerous media appearances; and in July she hosted a very successful book reading program, 'Summer Storytime with Queen Genesis Meyers' at Philipsburg Jubilee Library," said Lake.
