Minister Lourens-Philip reminds deadline approaching for Sint Maarten Craftsman to submit request for funding; Deadline September 15.

patricialourensphilip11082013GREAT BAY (DCOMM):--- The Honorable Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports Affairs Patricia Lourens – Philip is reminding those persons, institutions, and organizations that are involved in keeping the Intangible Cultural Heritage alive with craftsmanship; this week is the final week to submit their application for funding.

Minister Lourens-Philip urges all persons active in the field of Culture in particular the craft section to take advantage of this program and submit their project(s) in a timely manner.

The Netherlands became signatory to the United Nations Educational, Scientific, Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Intangible Cultural Heritage Convention in 2012.

The Dutch Participation Fund for the coming year has as its theme "Craft/Ambachten," and has reserved funds for persons, institutions, and organizations that are busy keeping the Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Kingdom of the Netherlands alive.

As such the Dutch Participation Fund is seeking projects that contribute to keeping the Intangible Culture alive, in particular that of craft.

The deadline for submission of projects is September 15, 2013 before 12:00 pm Sint Maarten time or before 17:00 hours Netherlands time.
