Minister Lake attends groundbreaking ceremony for Cupecoy community streetlights; Community security and safety at forefront.

mauricelakeatcupecoystreetlightsgroundbreakingceremony17092013PHILIPSBURG:--- Minister of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure (Ministry of VROMI) Hon. Maurice Lake on Monday attended a ground breaking ceremony for street lights for the Cupecoy community.

The project was initiated by the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine where 25 street lights are to be installed by Payless Electricity.

Minister Hon. Maurice Lake says he likes to see two private entities coming together to serve the public good.

"This is similar to the public-private initiative that was discussed with the timeshare association. The installation of streetlights increases safety within the Cupecoy community for residents, tourists and medical students.

"Government welcomes these types of initiatives from private sector entities," Minister Maurice Lake said on Monday.
