PHILIPSBURG:--- The Cabinet of the Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams announced on Monday its schedule of activities surrounding Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

The Prime Minister and her Cabinet announced that it would be organizing various activities in order to bring the awareness of Breast Cancer and its effects and what can be done to manage the disease throughout the month of October.

This coming Friday October 4th the Prime Minister urges all civil servants to join her in the Pink Parade starting at the Festival Village at four thirty in the afternoon. On the fifth of October starting at six in the morning at the Government Administration Building, the Prime Minister will be hosting a fitness walk around town accompanied to the rhythm of the Generation New Status STM Drum Band. On the 19th of October the PM will attend the special Breast Cancer Awareness Zumba Session at the St. Maarten Medical Center Open House starting at five in the afternoon. "I urge the whole community to come out to these very special events organized with our partners in the private and public field to create awareness not only about breast cancer but also about the importance of healthy living and exercise. I encourage all to take part and be made aware of the issues surrounding breast cancer and the need to get regular check ups and tests done early in order to combat this disease. My mother of ninety-two years is alive today because of a breast cancer operation and early detection. Today technology is so much more advanced so it is about getting tested and spreading the message. We cannot prevent breast cancer but we can make sure that those who have are checked and tested and receive the necessary treatment out there," emphasized the PM.
