MAHO:--- With a Parade of Nations of flags from 17 Caribbean countries, and the University of the Southern Caribbean, the Adventurer, Pathfinder and the Adventist Youth flags, the sixth Bible Boom of the Seventh-day Adventist Church was opened at Maho Convention Center on Thursday, October 3, 2013 with a cultural ceremony.
In attendance were Honorable Govenor Dr. Eugene Holiday and his wife, Mrs. Holiday; Treasurer of the Caribbean Union of Seventh-day Adventist, Berthie Henry; Youth Director of Caribbean Union Ps. Anthony Hall; President of the North Caribbean Conference Ps. Silton Brown and President of Tobago Mission, Ps. Toney Mapp among other youth directors and leaders across the Caribbean region.
The opening ceremony featured a group of students from the Seventh-day Adventist elementary school who gave a remarkable oral recitation of Revelation 4: 6-12. An equally large group of young people in a mass choir gave a musical rendition before an address by Dr. Eugene Holiday. The governor wished the participants success, "this is a testimony of your work and testimony of carrying on the work of God, and that already makes you a success".
Local SDA pastor, Royston Philbert describes the Bible Boom participants as young people who delight in giving their best to the study of God's word...because they are stewards of God's Grace.
St. Maarten is home to over 3700 Seventh-day Adventists who are privileged to be hosting the Caribbean Union finals of the Bible Boom 2013. The ceremony ended with a light and cultural atmosphere after the presentation of Roberto Arrindell, with his poem "Come lehwe go back to the good old days".
