SIMPSON BAY:--- UTS and its staff members made a donation to the Red Cross of St. Maarten in support of the recent victims of the Cole Bay fire, which left over 30 families homeless. The company provided 55 new cellular phones, including credit to the victims to allow them to stay in touch and make the necessary phone calls in the aftermath of their ordeal. In addition to that the company's employees collected a considerable amount of food and clothing items to assist the victims in replacing some of the many items they lost in the fire. "What happened to these families could have happened to any member of our community," says UTS Marketing and Communication Officer, Ivy Lambert. "The amount of families affected in this case was so large though that our hearts went out to this group in particular. I have to thank our staff for bringing in the many food and clothing items over the past week. I am sure that with the coordination efforts of the Red Cross they will be put to good use. We also hope that by offering the victims the means to stay in touch, they will also be able to get back on their feet more quickly," Lambert continues. Red Cross relief coordinator, Brigade Commander Julia Boasman thanked UTS for its support in assisting the many victims.
