L.B. SCOT ROAD:--- On Thursday morning around 4:15am, two police patrol from the Uniformed Department in Philispburg were dispatched to the St. Johns Estate where residents complained that some unknown persons were busy drag racing in the area.
Upon arrival at the crossing of L.B Scot Road/St. Johns the patrols noticed two vehicles driving on the road of St. Johns in the direction of L.B Scot. When the drivers saw the two police patrols, one of them stopped the vehicle he was driving with the registration plate M-8033 and fled into the bushes. The other driver of the vehicle with the registration M-5402 tried to reverse this vehicle at a very high speed to get away from the police but lost control of the vehicle after it hit a curb causing the vehicle to flip over.
The driver of this vehicle managed to get out of this vehicle and also fled the scene into the bushes. The police patrols give chase but lost sight of both suspects when they ran into the bushes. An intensive search was made but to no avail. The patrol however recognized one of the drivers as a male person for whom an arrest warrant was issued.
Upon controlling both vehicles it was confirmed that both vehicles were stolen as the wires to the ignition switch were tampered with.
The Traffic and Detective Department are investigating this case.
The Police Department is asking the community to assist with any information in the above mentioned case. We are also reminding those of you that are committing crime on our friendly island that you can't hide from the long arms of the law.
