PHILIPSBURG:--- On Friday January 3rd, 2014, the Fraud Department of the Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) received notice from a local bank, that there are many false NAF. 100.00 bills in circulation on the island which states as follows:
"We have noticed that there are counterfeit Naf. 100 bills circulating that are of fairly good quality. Especially the watermark, normally a very reliable security feature, is of extremely good quality. The counterfeit can still be detected through:
- The print is not as sharp as should be;
- The paper quality is insufficient;
- The see-trough register ("N" on front " A" on back) is a bit blurry;
- The golden foil patch is painted on the bill and not glued;
- No intaglio printing;
- So far the bills detected all had the serial number 8209866690.
All businesses and the entire community should pay keen attention to this information and contact their bank or the Fraud Department if they receive any of these bills.
