MAHO:--- On January 9, 2014, the Mental Health Foundation celebrated the New Year 2014 and was honored by the participation of the Minister of Public Health Social Affairs and Labor. The board and staff were also joined by the newly established Mental Health Caregivers and Patients Association board Mrs. Claire Elshot, Miriam Haar, and Minerva Pinto.
Celebrations took place at Soprano's in Maho who treated the staff with a wonderful dinner in a great ambiance.
Minister de Weever, commended the board and staff for their efforts on behalf of the patients, their ability to multi task in difficult times providing the best possible care. He also mentioned that budget constraints are inevitable and thanked the foundations staff for understanding.
Claire Elshot, also thanked the foundation for a job well done and welcomed the cooperation between the council and the MHF. She also acknowledged the efforts made by the secretary of the foundation Miriam Haar and the treasurer Minerva Pinto in establishing and providing for the continuation of the council.
Dr. Holiday also thanked the staff of the foundation for the work done in 2013 and sincerely hoped the foundation will be able to continue the work in good harmony for the benefit of the patients.
The highlights of the foundation in 2013 was the launching of the anti-stigma spots on radio, TV, in the media and on the blogs, and the Transforming Care Congress in the Westin Resort, attended by 200 international, regional and local participants.
The amount of patients seen in 2013 was approximately 900.
Board, management and staff express their gratitude to all who supported the work of the foundation in 2013 and prays for continued support in 2014.
