PHILIPSBURG:--- On Tuesday February 4th, 2014 at approximately 12:50pm, several police patrols were directed to the garbage dump on Pond Island where a man had been seriously injured during an accident. On the scene the victim (45) with the initials M.R. was found lying on the ground and was complaining of severe pain to his lower right leg and right hip. He stated that while passing at the rear of a garbage truck that at the time was busy dumping garbage he unexpectedly ended up under the large metal bin which landed on top of him pinning him to the ground. He was removed from under the bin by others in the area. The paramedics arrived on the scene and gave the victim first aid. He was then transported to the Sint Maarten Medical Center where he was admitted for further treatment.
