PHILIPSBURG:--- Deputy Minister Plenipotentiary Josianne Fleming-Artsen Visits ACE Foundation Tzu Chi Foundation, Methodist Schools, and St. Maarten Academy.
As a stalwart leader in education, Minister Josianne Fleming-Artsen was welcomed to several educational institutions during her visit to St. Maarten.
Included among these visits were Methodist Agogic Center, St. Maarten Academy, ACE Foundation, and the Tzu Chi Foundation.
"It's like coming home to visit family," shares Deputy Minister Fleming-Artsen. "Education has been my long-standing passion, and it's necessary that we continue to support and remain a part of the process to develop an effective system for everyone involved. It takes a strong village to raise up our future leaders."
Deputy Minister Fleming-Artsen took note of various areas of attention, as well as the advancements made. Among this was the work done by Claire Elshot, Principal of ACE Foundation, in partnership with the Tzu Chi Foundation to establish a school for students of diverse backgrounds from Kindergarten through Grade 6.
The Tzu Chi Foundation is an international humanitarian organization, founded by Master Chen Yen along with a group of 30 housewives to help others. The St. Maarten-based Chapter was established by one of their Commissioners, Ms. Karen ..., who also owns Cake House Bakery. It is the largest non-governmental organization in the Chinese speaking world, with a special consultative status at the United Nations Social Economic Council.
"The work done by our educators requires passion and personal commitment, which emanates from these individuals. In spite of our many other personal and professional demands, we must remain vigilant on our unending journey to properly prepare our students from St. Maarten to function well in the global market place" says Minister Fleming-Artsen.
