PHILIPSBURG:--- Minister of Public Housing, Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure (Ministry VROMI) Hon. Maurice Lake, is calling on residents of Cape Bay to assist their Community Council with a clean-up campaign that will take place on Sunday, February 9th from 6:30am.
The clean-up is an effort not only to beautify the neighbourhood by taking away old debris and other garbage, but also to improve public health within the district. The country is currently challenged by dengue fever and chikungunya, and all hands are needed on deck to eliminate these mosquito breeding sites.
The Sint Maarten community, organizations, social and civic, service clubs and community councils, individual household and property owners, are invited to participate in this cooperative effort to clean and beautify your neighbourhood. Your cooperation is needed in this campaign to protect our communities from dengue fever and chikungunya viruses that are spread by mosquitoes.
A country-wide clean-up is also underway and for the schedule in your area, go to the Government website. Go to www.sintmaartengov.org and select the link in the main bar titled "What's New," and you will come across 'Country-wide Clean Up Schedule;' select the aforementioned which will bring you to the page with the schedule that can also be downloaded.
