Smooth Love at Axum Art Café.

minervasmith07022014PHILIPSBURG:--- This Sunday, February 9, LA's own Minerva "Peachie" Smith will be performing live at Axum Art Café on Front Street at 7pm.
Peachie's performance will be a blend of R&B, Jazz and Neo-Soul themed "Smooth Love". She will be joined by local artists Shakiya Charles-Arrindell, Shawn Jacquet and Malaika Maxwell and poets Lysanne Charles-Arrindell and Rene Violenus.
Smith is a singer, actor, teacher and mother. She is a daughter of the Dutch Caribbean who began her love affair with music at the tender age of 6 when she shared her vocal gift with the appreciative ears of people beyond her family on Saba. She continued honing her skills performing in several productions as a teenager on Curacao and St. Maarten and later as a young adult in the Virgin Islands and again on St. Maarten.
More than a decade ago Peachie moved to Los Angeles where she never skipped a beat; performing every chance she got for the last 15 years. She added her distinctive vocals to several productions in LA and Chicago and was soon nominated for the prestigious NAACP theatre awards.
She has always felt it important to maintain the integrity of singing.
"Whatever song you choose to sing, sing it with the emotions due to it," Peachie says.
She and Mosera, curator of Axum Art Café, encourage all lovers of smooth love songs to come out and enjoy this one of a kind evening. The entrance fee is just $5 and drinks will be available for purchase at the bar.
