PHILIPSBURG:--- The Landsrecherche arrested Community Police Officer (CPO) Juan "Juny" Statie on Monday morning as they took over the investigation regarding the sexual abuse of his minor daughter. Public Prosecutor Tineke Kamps confirmed the arrest of Statie. Kamps said Statie was arrested just before midday on Monday.
The management of KPSM suspended Statie on February 10th, 2014 after his wife filed a complaint against him for molesting their daughter. The victim is said to be around 16 years old. SMN News learnt that Statie's wife wanted to withdraw her complaint but the management team of KPSM did not do what the woman wanted because they felt that the crime Statie was accused of committing was serious enough and warrants an internal investigation. However, the Landsrecherche took over shortly after and started a criminal investigation.
CPO Juan "Juny" Statie was the CPO for the Dutch Quarter area.
