PHILIPSBURG:--- United Telecommunication Services prepared its operations and staff for the 2014 hurricane season. The company has gone through the yearly exercise to ensure that it can continue to operate its Chippie mobile service and CaribServe Broadband Internet Service during a hurricane situation.
"Communication is key during an emergency situation such as a hurricane," said UTS Marketing and Communication Officer, Ivy Lambert. "Those of us that have been through hurricane Luis, or any other hurricane, know that being able to keeping in contact with loved ones during and after a storm can take away a lot of the stress and worry of going through a natural disaster. As the company expected to deliver reliably during those circumstances, we want to do everything in our power to make sure that we can do precisely that and be the communications partner our customers can count on," Lambert continued.
The company went through the necessary exercises to make sure that all the preparations prior to the start of the season were made and also went through a number of drills to plan for worst case scenarios. In addition, the company also emphasized the importance of preparation to its staff members. "Aside from making it our business to prepare our operations, we also want to make sure that the home situation of our staff members is as secure as possible. Often times our day-to-day errands allow us to forget or postpone preparing for a storm situation and the last thing anyone wants is to be taken by surprise by a storm. This is why we reiterate the measures needed for preparation at home as well. It is important to us that our staff and their families are as safe as possible during a hurricane situation," Lambert continued.
