OSPP presents one of the candidates to the general public.

denissenphilips02062014PHILIPSBURG:--- During the launching of the OSPP on August 1, 2013 the OSPP stated that it would present the candidates before the elections. Not only do we want to do things different but we believe that the general public should have the opportunity to know who the candidates are that will be contesting the election before the date of the nomination. We also feel that those candidates should have the opportunity to profile themselves for the public to know who they are. However, it was important for us as a political party before presenting the candidates to hold a congress and to outline to the general membership and the public at large the plans and vision of the party. This congress was held on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the John Larmonie Center. Once again the party leadership proposed to the members its intention to introduce the candidates to the general public one by one and this proposal was accepted unanimously. Of course we had another hurdle to cross namely, the registering of the party at the Electoral Council. On Tuesday, May 27, 2013 we submitted our documents to the Electoral Council for registration and once this was done it cleared the way for us to start presenting our candidates to the general public.
"On Sunday, June 1, 2014 we were honored to present to the public on People Voice with Lloyd Richardson our first candidate Mr. Denissen Albertus Philips" says Mr. Lloyd Beaton president of the OSPP. Mr. Philips was born on St. Maarten on January 18, 1961 and he is the grandson of the late L. B. Scott, a businessman and a powerful politician. He is a VWO graduate and studied law at the Catholic University of Brabant, known today as the Catholic University of Tilburg. Presently he is a Civil Servant working in the department of Social Welfare and Labour as a Complaint/Dismissal Officer from 1996 to present. His main focus during this election campaign and once elected will be jobs creation, agriculture and labour related matters. As a board we are very proud to have Mr. Denissen Philips as a candidate on the OSPP slate, the purple party. Together we will make St. Maarten S.H.I.N.E. A Change Must Come.
