PHILIPSBURG:--- Foundation Cooperating Funds (Samenwerkende Fondsen) assists NGOs by providing funds for social and community based projects. On Wednesday, June 25th another information session will be held for interested foundations, associations and community councils that are interested in applying for funds. The session will take place in the Parish Hall in the Back street, Philipsburg (# 49 opposite the Cultural Center's restaurant) from 6:00 – 8:00pm.
During this information session an explanation will be provided on the different types of projects. NGOs will also be instructed on how to complete the application forms. Special attention is given to organizations that acknowledge and encourage volunteerism. This vision is based on the assumption that societies are highly dependent on volunteer activities in order to build stronger communities. Also community councils are specifically invited as Cooperating Foundations believes in strong neighbourhood building.
Project proposals may vary in size, amount and scope. For those organizations that are new to Cooperative Funds or have small projects, there is the opportunity to apply for a mini-grant for a maximum amount of Naf. 5,000. This type of grant allows for a faster project approval and therefore early start of the project. This type of project grant will also be explained in more detail during the information session. After the general part of the information session, the board members of Cooperating Foundations will be available to answer more specific questions posed by the different NGOs.
Currently Cooperative Foundations has three projects running under the larger project name Opportunities for youngsters in the Caribbean. Furthermore the project "real Talk" from the Aids Foundation is sponsored by CF as well as the recently approved mini-grant for the St. Peters Community Council. They are busy with the preparations for a full day summer program for children living in the St. Peters area. Several other project applications are currently being reviewed, while NGOs are waiting for their approval.
