President Arrindell extends condolences to the Dutch Houses of Parliament in Connection with the Tragic Plane Crash.

PHILIPSBURG:--- President of Parliament Hon. Gracita Arrindell on Friday sent two letters to the Presidents of the First and Second Chambers of the Dutch Parliaments expressing her deepest condolences.

President Arrindell said on Friday that she understood a Member of the Dutch First Chamber of Parliament Prof. Dr. W.J. Witteveen also perished on Thursday when Malaysian Flight MH-17 crashed in the eastern part of Ukraine.

An Antillean family namely K.J., his wife and daughter also lost their lives leaving a son behind.

"I express my heartfelt condolences to both houses of the Dutch parliament, to the family and friends of the deceased, and to the people of the Netherlands on behalf of the Parliament of Sint Maarten and the people.

"This is a great tragedy within the Kingdom of the Netherlands whereby many innocent lives were lost. While no one can bring back the passengers and crew of this ill faith flight, I too express the hope that the authorities would give the families of the deceased an answer as to the reason for this man-made airline disaster. Sint Maarten mourns with you," President of Parliament Hon. Gracita Arrindell said on Friday.

The President of the First Chamber is Hon. Ank Broekers-Knol, and the President of the Second Chamber of Parliament is Hon. A. van Miltenburg.
