utsheritagebookpresentation08092014PHILIPSBURG:--- UTS was recognized by The Caribbean Professionals in Intangible and Tangible Cultural Heritage supported by Information and Technology (PITCH – IT Foundation) and the department of Culture of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports for its role as local corporate partner for the Regional Conference on "Capacity Building on Heritage Conservation in the Caribbean Small Islands Developing States (SIDS) earlier this year. Representatives of both entities presented UTS with the official event book, commemorating the very successful and productive gathering which was held from May 8 to 13 of this year at the Sonesta Maho Resort and Casino.
"We are proud to assist the Foundation and the Ministry in their objectives" said UTS Marketing and Communication Officer, Ivy Lambert "The goal of strengthening the professional capacities for effective implementation of the 1972 World Heritage Convention in the Caribbean is that much closer after the conference. We are happy to receive this book, because it is illustrates the journey of the attendees during the conference and is also a further step in the long term plan to increase the regional representation of sites on the World Heritage List. Preservation of local and regional monument sites is of course important for future generations, but is also of economic importance in presenting an authentic tourism product. As a local corporate partner, we are privileged to be able to support the Ministry and the Foundation," Lambert continued.
