PHILIPSBURG:--- While the three political parties that are forming the next government are holding the names of the incoming Ministers close to their chest, SMN News managed to obtain the names of some of the persons that the formateur will submit by September 24th, 2014 to the Governor of St. Maarten for screening.
According to the information SMN News received the following persons will become Ministers for the NA/DP/USp Government:
- William V. Marlin - Prime Minister
- Silveria Jacobs - Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports
- Rodolph Samuel - Minister of VROMI
- Attorney at Law Jeroen Veen - Minister of Justice
- Cornelius de Weever - Minister of Health and Labor
- Frans Richardson - Minister of TEATT (Transportation, Telecommunication, Economic Affairs and Tourism)
- Martin Hassink - Minister of Finance
- Henrietta Doran York - Minister of Plenipotentiary
- Sarah Wescot Williams - President of Parliament
With the information SMN News received which could not be confirmed by any of the political parties it is understood that the broad based government that is in the making has decided to keep Martin Hassink for at least six months in order for him to complete the 2015 budget he started some months ago. It is not clear if the USp will decide to keep Hassink after he completed the 2015 budget procedures.
The make-up that SMN News received means that some other persons such as Emil Lee and Rueben Thompson will become Members of Parliament. It should also be noted that the National Alliance is expected to hold a meeting on Tuesday afternoon to inform its members of the decision taken by the formateur and who are the persons that will be appointed Ministers in the new government. SMN News further understands that outgoing Member of Parliament Roy Marlin will be the main advisor to the Minister of Justice Jeroen Veen.
