Deputy Chief Commissioner Carl John, Denise Jacob and candidate from the Netherlands applied for Position as Chief Commissioner of Police.

PHILIPSBURG:--- Reliable information reaching SMN News states that Deputy Commissioner of Police Carl John who is busy upgrading his skills and education has applied for the position of Chief Commissioner of Police that was made available at KPSM. Chief Commissioner of Police Peter de Witte announced last month that he will be vacating his position this year as he wants to keep the promise he made when he took up his post in 2010. De Witte is expected to train and hand over the reins to the new Chief of Police when the new Chief of Police is selected and sworn in.
SMN News also learnt that head of the detectives department Denise Jacob who hails from Bonaire is the second candidate that applied for the position while the third candidate hails from the Netherlands. Sources said the candidate from the Netherlands is no stranger to St. Maarten since she was part of Police Work Group committee. She has been identified as one "Vis" who is a Commissioner of Police in the Netherlands.
The committee installed by Minister of Justice Dennis Richardson is headed by former Managing Director of the Windward Islands Bank Jan Beaujon. It is not yet known when the selection process will be completed. Minister of Justice Dennis Richardson could not be reached for a comment on the process on Wednesday.
