PHILIPSBURG:--- Managing director of Let's Travel, Terrance Rey, commends Inselair on their proposed direct flights from Curacao to Georgetown, Guyana, starting Thursday, December 18th, 2014, with good connections from St. Maarten on Thursdays and Sundays with their Inselair flights to Guyana. The return flights from Guyana to St. Maarten via Curacao are on Fridays and Mondays departing at 6:45am as the aircraft to be used, a Fokker 70, will overnight in Georgetown, Guyana, at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.
"I highly commend the management of Inselair on taking this bold step to provide a service that has long been demanded from the Guyanese and business community on St. Maarten," says Terrance Rey. "Not many on St. Maarten are willing to stick their neck out and invest in a commercial service that the market demands, but Curacao-based Inselair has done exactly that and for that I must applaude their decision."
The travel agency and tour operating company owned by Terrance Rey will now offer its clients the introductionary fare offered by Inselair starting as low as 601 Antillean Guilders including taxes. "With this fare we can offer our clients an attractive throughfare from St. Maarten to Guyana that would allow travellers the option of spending a long weekend
or week in Guyana. "Our next step will be to create interesting packages with accommodation providers and tour operators in Guyana to make the trips to Guyana worthwhile for visitors and business travellers alike," says Rey, who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AirStMaarten, a company specializing in private charters and shared charters to various destinations in the Caribbean.
"Through our AirStMaarten airline company, we still have the possibility to organize charters depending on demand during the summer holidays and Christmas season." explains Rey. "Clients still prefer the option to arrive in Guyana during the day instead of late at night as the Inselair and Caribbean Airlines flights presently offer."
Rey pointed out that most travellers to Georgetown, Guyana, still have a two to three hour drive ahead of them before arriving at their final destinations in Guyana. "That is why we are still looking to do daytime charter flights to Guyana directly non-stop from St. Maarten as this will allow us to land in Georgetown, Guyana, at the earliest at midday, a solution which the market is still asking for."
Inselair flights will arrive in Georgetown, Guyana, at 10:20pm at night, while the Caribbean Airlines flights arrive past midnight. "We are presently in negotiations to obtain the necessary landingrights to execute charters between St. Maarten and Guyana and between St. Maarten and Jamaica," says Rey. "We expect to have a positive decision in this area and as soon as we do, we will make the necessary announcements to the general public."
