Prosecution Purposely delayed Investigations to Taint St. Maarten as a Country, were they instructed to destroy St. Maarten or are they incompetent?
PHILIPSBURG:--- The screening process that was conducted these past weeks by a team of persons including the prosecution can only be described as a one eye giant and the Prosecutors Office is failing to execute their duties or they are simply incompetent. At least two of the persons that failed the screening raised eyebrows. Bear in mind that this article is not meant to support anyone but its sole purpose is to show that there is no equality when it comes to justice on St. Maarten. The very people that are meant to protect this young country are the ones destroying it.
Peggy Ann Brandon an attorney at law failed the screening because she is affiliated with former Minister of Justice Roland Duncan whom they said is under investigation, but so far Duncan was never questioned as a suspect to find out whether or not he owns a house of prostitution. What seems to be happening right now is that no one on St. Maarten could become a Minister simply because they will be judged based on whom they are affiliated with or whomever their relatives are affiliated with or for whatever they are accused of even if they were never taken before the court of law and judged. So while there were hundreds of newspaper article accusing Duncan of various things so far none of what was written has been proven in a court of law, and while so much was written about Duncan and Maria Buncamper, the newspaper that smeared almost everyone's character on St. Maarten did not see it fit to publish that the publisher of that newspaper is under investigation for alleged child molestation, and for those that don't know we are referring to Richard Gibson the owner of the Today's Newspaper. Gibson who is now under investigation is St. Maarten's representative on the CFT board and he is also on the Voorgangs Commissie St. Maarten, already Gibson kept away from the CFT meetings last week but will he do the same for the Voorgangs Commissie St. Maarten?
The second person that failed the screening was Petrus Leroy de Weever because Judith Roumou filed a complaint against Petrus Leroy de Weever for assaulting her on January 11th, 2014. So far De Weever was not called in or even prosecuted for the crimes he allegedly committed. It appears as though there is either class justice on St. Maarten like Judge Luijks rightfully said when he rendered the Masbangu verdict earlier this year or the Prosecutors Office is taking complaints from people and stacking them on shelves in order to use them when it is convenient to them. Obviously, the prosecution does not believe what the complainant said to the police but instead of investigating and prosecuting Petrus Leroy de Weever they left the complaint there in order to use it against him in the screening process now that De Weever is seeking to become a Minister. Solicitor General Taco Stein once told SMN News that he knew Petrus Leroy de Weever personally and while he may have a temper he does not believe that De Weever assaulted Roumou, having the same person twice as Chief Prosecutor on St. Maarten and now Solicitor General is one of the main reasons the Masbangu case took four years, the Maria Buncamper case took four years while Buncamper is the one that had to take the Prosecutors Office to court for them to either clear her name or prosecute her. The Piranha investigation, the ORCA investigation, the Regina Labega investigation, these are all cases that are stacked up at the Public Prosecutors Office and nothing is done with these cases. It is clear that St. Maarten's Solicitor General has become too close to politicians and that is one of the reasons he orders the Prosecutors Office to move at snail's pace.
What is even more amazing is that while persons are being screened no one knows which screening process is being used, because if it's the one given by the Kingdom Council then surely the Prosecutors Office did not do their jobs or they chose to keep out who they don't want in government.
Some years ago SMN News ran a story where a woman identified as Carmen Webb filed complaint against someone that is now holding a ministerial position. Ms. Webb's story was printed in other newspapers in Anguilla since she also filed a complaint on that island. Nothing became of that investigation and it now behooves everyone why did the prosecutor, the MOT and VDSM and others that conducted the screening skip that complaint that was filed on two islands? Why no one will ever know if what Ms. Webb said is true what should have happened is that the justice system should have acted. While it was also rumored that the same person was caught bringing in someone on a boat from Anguilla to St. Maarten illegally, that too was swept under the proverbial carpet since it is known that class justice on St. Maarten exists and the prosecutors that come to this paradise island never came here to work. Their intention is to enjoy the sea, sun and sand and to bungle major investigations, sell boats and outboard engines illegally, while these are the same people that are conducting the screening and condemning people without taking them before the court of law.
These very prosecutors have hundreds of complaints filed by different people and they refuse to grant the police a warrant to arrest people they want to further investigate. It is clear that St. Maarten is facing a real dilemma with an incompetent Prosecutors Office some of whom were convicted after serving on St. Maarten yet they chose not to leave the island and is even accepted in the bar.
With the outcome of the screening process and the results that are published on SMN News let us see if anyone on this island will have the courage to become a candidate for Ministerial positions or if the Dutch will have to come in, if that happens at least the exotic houses on St. Maarten will make monies because during dark hours the exotic houses are filled with these Dutch men that claim they have integrity.
