SUCKER GARDEN:--- The Walichi Basketball Association (WBA) & Motorworld and Jeep Presents Ladies Basketball Championship games continued last weekend with an exciting, Rollercoaster type game between the Learning Unlimited and Bush Tea Remedy. The Bush Tea Remedy started off strong in the first half and lead 28-17 at halftime. The extended their lead to 36-19 in the third quarter but then LU cut the lead and only trailed 42-33 after the third. Jakisha Brooks took over the fourth quarter by scoring 9 of LU's 16 points, outscoring Bush Tea Remedy by herself 9-7. Jakisha made a putback layup to tie the game and send it to the first Overtime of the season. In Overtime, Bush Tea Remedy started off strong and lead 57-51 with a 1,5 minute to go but the Learning Unlimited fought back with a 8-0 run capped off by a the game winning 3 pointer by Jakisha Brooks with 25 seconds left. Learning Unlimited was lead by Jakisha Brooks with 28 points, 21 rebounds, 8 steals, 3 assists and blocks. Rachael Degroot with 12 points, 15 rebounds, 4 steals & Daricia Arrindell with 11 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds and steals. Jakisha Brooks was named Motorworld Player Of The Game for her outstanding play by leading her team to their first victory. Bush Tea Remedy was lead by Keri Hyman and Nasmarie Doran with 16 points and 6 rebounds a piece alongside the double double of Cardillia Nicholas with 11 points and 21 rebounds.
The second game of the weekend was on Sunday at 3pm with a rematch of last week's intense game between MGM Lightning and Cash 4 Gold Lava Girls. The lightning team came out Strong in the first half and lead 22-12. The Cash 4 Gold Lava Girls came out with lots of energy and fought back in the second half and even took a 3 point lead 31-28 with a Selah Fleming jumper. MGM Lightning responded with a 11-0 run to close the game and beat the undefeated Cash 4 Gold Lava Girls and avenge two losses to the team. MGM Lightning was lead by Motorworld Player Of The Game Jamaiah Newton-Herbert with 20 points, 22 rebounds and 3 assists . She was supported by Micaela Galva with 10 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals.
Cash 4 Gold was lead by three players in double digits, Claudia Fleming with 13 points and 9 rebounds, Selah Fleming with 11 points and 6 rebounds and Shama Flurton with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
The last game of weekend was between Bush Tea Remedy and Thunderz. The game was competitive in the first quarter while Bush Tea lead 12-11. In the second quarter and third quarters the Thunderz stepped up their defense and outscored Bush Tea Remedy 42 to 16 and never looked back and won easily 69-29.
Thunderz was lead by Tiana Lionel with 23 Points and Chantel Hodge who has 21 points. They were supported by Ashley Daniel with 9 points and Salambbo Guibert -Soutade with 8 points.
Bush Tea Remedy was lead by Shadela Williams with 11 points and 13 rebounds and Nasmarie Doran with 8 points and 8 rebounds.
Tiana Lionel was named Motorworld Player Of The Game for her outstanding effort on the offensive end and defensive end of the game. Tiana Lionel finished with 23 points, 17 rebounds, 3 assists, 6 steals, and 4 blocks.
Standings at the half of the season are Cash 4 Gold Lava Girls, 6-1, Thunderz 7-1, Lightning 5-3, Bush Tea Remedy 1-8 and Learning Unlimited 1-6.
