PHILIPSBURG:--- An armed robbery took place this morning (Tuesday) around 11:05am at the main branch of Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) which is located at Cannegieter Street. Chief Commissioner of Police Peter de Witte who was at the scene of the crime when SMN News contacted him said based on preliminary information three gunmen entered the bank and jumped over the counter. De Witte said it is not yet known if the robbers managed to escape with cash as the investigation is in its early stages. The top cop said the three gunmen managed to escape the scene on scooters. When asked if any of the employees of RBC was hurt during the daring daylight robbery, De Witte said no one was hurt during the horrific incident.
Bystanders told SMN News that police immobilized the entire area around RBC Bank in an effort to catch the robbers. SMN News will bring you more information on this latest robbery later today.
RBC Bank on the Cannegieter Street robbed.
On Tuesday December 30th, 2014 at approximately 11am, the RBC Bank on the Cannegieter Street was robbed by two unknown armed assailants. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the bank. After committing their deed they fled the bank. Detectives were on the scene are conducting an investigation.
