Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested on Tuesday.

PHILIPSBURG:--- On Tuesday January 13th, 2015 at approximately 11:00 a.m. a police patrol from the Simpson Bay area saw a motorcycle/dirt bike riding in the Cole Bay without a license-plate. The patrol also recognized the rider as one of the suspects of an armed robbery at Atlantis Casino which took place on November 16th, 2014 and for whom an arrest warrant was issued. When the suspect with initials K.D. noticed that the police was following him he took off at high speed through the streets of Cole Bay and Cape Bay. The Central Police Dispatch was informed of what was taking place and sent several other patrols to assist. When the suspect noticed that he could not go further with the motorcycle he jumped off leaving it behind and continued fleeing from the police on foot. The suspect was apprehended shortly after while hiding behind a home in the Cape Bay. He was arrested on the spot and taken to the Philipsburg Police Station where he remains for further investigation. The motorcycle was also confiscated for further investigation.

Student stabs another.

On Tuesday January 13th, 2014 at approximately 1:15 p.m. several police patrols was sent by the Central Police Dispatch to the L.B. Scot road between the Milton Peters College and the Sint Maarten Academy P.S.V.E. to investigate a stabbing. On the scene the investigating officers located the 17 year old victim who had two superficial stab wounds to his upper chest from which he was bleeding. The suspect had already fled the scene in the direction of Milton Peters College. The victim was attended to by the paramedics and then taken to the Sint Maarten Medical Center for further treatment. The 17 year old suspect with the initials D.W. was located shortly after in the vicinity of the Milton Peters College. During a search of the suspect the knife that was used in the stabbing was found along with 24 small plastic bags each containing a small amount of marijuana prepared for distribution. The suspect was arrested on the spot. The knife and drugs were confiscated for further investigation.

Police meets with representatives of the 2015 Heineken Regatta.

On Tuesday January 13th, 2015 a meeting between the organizers of the 2015 Heineken Regatta and Police was held. This year's Heineken Regatta, which will be held from March 5th through March 8th is predicted to be larger than those events held in the previous years. This meeting was held to make sure everything goes well and also all necessary preparations have been made. The meeting was quite informative. The main topics of discussion were safety, security and traffic. A subsequent and final meeting will be held in the upcoming weeks. The organizers of the event was represented by Nila Rambajan and Barbara De Windt while the Police Department was represented by Acting Chief of Police Commissioner Carl John, Chief Inspector Benjamin Gout and Inspector Rudolph Bloeiman.
