PHILIPSBURG:--- Foresee Foundation, a leading NGO promoting the use of technology in schools by its students and teachers through its DigiKidz projects, received the annual report of the Philipsburg Jubilee Library. Its board and the DigiKidz team, consisting of a group of local enthusiastic young St. Maarteners, congratulate board, management and staff of PJL on doing a great job, offering workshops for students and teachers on Media Technology. PJ Library is keeping up with the times by putting less emphasis on book and concentrating more on supporting lifelong learning, and promotion of information literacy .
Early 2014 Foresee Foundation sponsored the construction of the DigiKidz Medialab. This project was finalized in March and with an additional sponsoring of the transportation to the library for students, schools were offered free 3-hour workshops for their students. Together with the invaluable partnership of Dutch funding through Foundation "Kultuur Kameleon", international specialist media technology teachers provided engaging and challenging workshops to many our students, teachers and the general public.
A total of number of 64 workshops were conducted for 1500 students from 17 primary schools and lower secondary schools. In addition 28 workshops for educators and 40 workshops for the general public were organized by the library.
Foresee Foundation is very proud to be part of this great project and is looking forward to continuing the DigiKidz Medialab project in 2015. Together with management and staff of the library, the DigiKidz group strives to have local trainers coming in and teach students, youth, educators and the general public more about ICT, social media and technology.
