MULLET BAY"--- Howard Hobgood showed his supremacy again to win the February Medal Play Golf Tournament organized by the St. Maarten Golf Association SMGA over the weekend. A nice group of 30 golfers joined him to fight for second place. Gitte Poulsen won Overall Low Net with a score of 69 after deduction of her 23 handicap.
Hobgood, who finished the par 70 Mullet Bay Golf Course with a score of 75 strokes, was the only player in the field to break 80 and as a result he won both the Overall Low Gross for the tournament, as the 1st Low Gross prize in the Men's category.
In the same category Jesus Riviera won 1st Low Net with a score of 71 strokes after deduction of his 10 handicap. In the Men's category was also the player with the fewest putts. Robert van der Heuvel needed only 28 putts over 18 holes.
The Ladies Category had a big amount of participants again this time. In total 8 ladies battled it out amongst each other. At the end Marie Gibbons won 1st Low Gross with a score of 92 strokes, 1st Low Net was won by Gitte Poulsen with a Low Net score of 69 strokes.
In the category Senior's for players between 50 and 60 years old, Philippe Thevenet won the prize for 1st Low Gross with a score of 83 strokes, 1st Low Net was won by Jean Marc Greaux with a Net score of 70.
In the Super Seniors Category for players over 60 years old, 1st Low Gross was won by Keith Graham with a score of 91 and 1st Low Net was won by Richard Gibson with a score of 90.
The February Medal Play tournament was the 4th round qualification for the 2015 St. Maarten Golf Team that will compete in the Eastern Caribbean Golf Championship that will take place in October in St. Maarten at the Mullet Bay Golf Course.
