PHILIPSBURG:---- Minister Plenipotentiary, Hon. Josianne Fleming–Artsen on Wednesday met with the Mayor of the City of The Hague, the Netherlands Jozias van Aartsen.
The one hour meeting between Minister Fleming-Artsen and Mayor Van Aartsen took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Both dignitaries discussed cooperation in the area of Culture. Sint Maarten students studying in The Hague and throughout the Netherlands was also a topic of discussion which the Mayor showed great interests in.
At the end of the working visit, Minister Plenipotentiary Fleming-Artsen, expressed her gratitude and presented a plaque of Sint Maarten to Mayor Van Aartsen which was highly appreciated.
Van Aartsen has been Mayor since March 2008. Prior to that he served as a Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Food Quality, and later became Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Van Aartsen also served as a member of the House of Representatives for a number of years.
The meeting took place at The Hague City Hall.
