St. Peters:--- Positive thinking was the topic of Jonny Joe’s tenth (10th) speech project as he inspired the audience during the club’s bi-weekly educational meeting. The meeting was held at the academic section of the St Maarten Academy this past Sunday. In his inspiring presentation, he appealed to the noble motives and challenged the audience to achieve a higher level of belief in the power of positive thinking. He used examples of his own life and how he has made the power of positive thinking work for him.
With his tenth presentation, Jonny Joe achieved the distinction of Competent Communicator and took the Disciples Toastmasters club to the highest distinction of President Distinguished by achieving 9 out of ten goals. Each club is required to achieve a certain amount of goals ranging from adding new members, achieving educational distinctions, training club officers and remitting dues to world headquarters.
Club President Linda Moise-Flanders expressed her appreciation to the club for the hard work and dedication in achieving the goals and bringing the club to the President Distinguished club status. Disciples Toastmasters club is one of five clubs on St Maarten with two additional clubs being planned.
Jonny Joe is a relatively new Toastmaster, who has demonstrated the commitment and perseverance towards the club and in achieving his goals. As a young dynamic presenter, he has been growing in his presentation skills and served as a great inspiration for the membership.
Disciples Toastmasters Club has faced several challenges and the club has demonstrated its commitment to Toastmasters and the membership has good reason to celebrate. Disciples Toastmasters club meets every second and fourth Sunday at 4.45pm at the St Maarten Academy. The club is open to the public and anyone can join.
