PHILIPSBURG:---The head of the St. Maarten’s Cadastre Office Clemens Roos have been arrested on Wednesday morning. The motive for the arrest is not known. Police Spokesman Ricardo Henson said he had no knowledge of the arrest when he was contacted for confirmation. However, several persons saw when Roos was taken into custody at his Back Street Cadastre Office.SMN News further understands that the Supervisory Board of the Cadastre Office officially suspended Roos Wednesday morning when he was placed under arrest.
SMN News contacted the press prosecutor on St. Maarten Prosecutor Lemmers for an official comment but she refused to confirm or deny the arrest. Prosecutor Lemmers who was overly hostile even refused to give her first name when she was asked to provide her name. SMN News further contacted Norman Serphos of the Attorney General’s Office and he also said he was not informed and that SMN News should insist for confirmation at the St. Maarten’s Prosecutor’s Office for a comment.
This is another proof that there is some kind of class justice taking place on St. Maarten and that certain people are protected. Clemens Roos is good friend to several prosecutors on the island. He once hired the husband of a former prosecutor when the Ombudsman was conducting a forensic investigation at the Office of the Cadastre.
After this article was published Police Spokesman Ricardo Henson called SMN News to confirm the arrest of Roos. Henson said that St. Maarten got a request from the Netherlands (Rechthulp Verzoek) to arrest Roos who is under investigation there.
