PHILIPSBURG:--- The current Chief Financial Officer Rene Gartner also has some run ins with the Supervisory Board of Directors since he signed a contract (letter of Intent) with a company Sunshine Real Estate to provide 2MW of Solar Energy to GEBE for some $5M.
SMN News learnt that this project was placed on bid but Gartner chose people he believe he could work with and not the ones that made the best proposals in the interest of GEBE and the people of St. Maarten.
According to the letter of intentent provided to SMN News it clearly stipulates that the contract could only be signed after it was approved by the Supervisory Board of Directors but in this case Rene Gartner signed the contract and then sent it on to the Supervisory Board of Directors for their approval. This is mentioned in article 5 of the contract which is underneath this article. While the former COO also had to sign this contract (letter of intent) Romelio Maduro did not sign the agreement since he knew that the Supervisory Board had to approve it prior to it being signed off by the management of GEBE.
The source said that the Supervisory Board sent Gartner an eight page memo asking various questions but to date they have not received any response. SMN News further learnt that since Gartner is the sole captain of the management team of GEBE he contacted the Supervisory Board last week asking them what he should do with the solar energy contract and he was told that he should respond to the eight page memo that was sent to him..
