PHILIPSBURG:---- The shareholder representative of government owned company GEBE will soon re-appoint William Brooks as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company.
SMN News learnt that the Supervisory Board of Directors of GEBE submitted three names to the shareholder representatives on June 18th 2015.
Those persons are William Brooks, a former CEO of GEBE who was terminated in December 2011. Brooks was sent home by GEBE former chairman of the board the late Julius Lambert but it is highly possible that he will be reappointed to the position he once held.
The other two persons that were submitted to the shareholder (government) are Mr. Kwartel a Dutch national and Ms. Madeline Muys from Curacao.
According to information provided to SMN News is that the government of St. Maarten chose to re-appoint Brooks to the position he once held in the government owned company.
It is not clear how soon will the shareholder representative inform the Supervisory Board of Directors on the decision they have taken and how soon Brooks will be appointed. When Brooks was terminated from GEBE he went to St. Kitts where he was given the position as CEO of St. Kitts Electrical Company.
SMN News contacted a member of the Supervisory Board who confirmed that they made the nominations on June 18th 2015 and are awaiting a response from the government of St. Maarten. The supervisory board member made clear that Mr. William Brooks is from St. Maarten and he has to live just like everyone else, further to that the board member said that government had sent home the late Julius Lambert but they also re-appointed him sometime after. “Right now there is a strict Supervisory Board of Directors at GEBE and management of the company has to follow the rules and regulations that are set down and William Brooks will be no exception if government chose him as the candidate to fill the vacant position.
